This design began with a carved stone detail I found in a book by Emile Prisse d Avennes, the 19th-century archaeologist who spent years preserving ancient Egyptian art. I am fascinated by carved designs and symmetry, so with the help of Sara in Como, we reworked it for printing on silk. I think of this as a small tribute to craftsmanship that s lasted centuries.
