The name came from its creator, the painter Yves Klein (1928-1962), who patented this electric blue color back in the 1950s. It is a very intense, flattering color imitating a velvety texture, an electrifying color with an elegance no other color of this strength can boast. It is used a lot in fashion and in artistic creations.
